Italian Evaluation of Research Quality: Siena no. 1 in Political Science

The recently concluded (July 2013) Italian Evaluation of Research Quality (VQR 2004—2010) conducted by ANVUR (the Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes) has attributed to the University of Siena the first place in political science (SPS04) among the 16 universities evaluated in that disciplinary field (other universities had less than three political scientists and their scores were not published for privacy reasons). The VQR evaluated, through a process of peer review using national and foreign referees, the three best products submitted by each permanent member of the academic staff. The mean score obtained by the political scientists belonging to the Centre for the Study of Political Change and to the Department of Social, Political and Cognitive Sciences of the University of Siena was 0.77 (Milan Cattolica follows with 0.56, Milan with 0.54, Bologna 0.52, Trento 0.49, Florence 0.48, Roma LUISS 0.47).
